The Cells Project is a community regeneration project aimed at showing youths what it is like, to be behind bars. Council leaders hope that this will re-educate the children and lead them to never want to end up in a prison cell.
The project, which is currently in operation across Merseyside with great success and has visited schools, colleges, youth centres and community centres.
The Cells Project is a truck that has been transformed to look and feel like an authentic prison and has also been given its own prison name, HMP Turnaround. Here at Run Services, we had the sole responsibility of design, layout and building work on the bus, which was based on a cell at HMP Liverpool.

The Project, whose design and build was funded by Run Services and van provided from Port Logistics, has recently been the star of an inspection by the team at BBCs Newsround where the presenter Ricky, has a chance to show the world what an actual prison looks like from the inside.
With the success of this project, there has been talk of other councils across the country, taking up project. With the possibility of tenders for 9 new buses which is estimated by the CIB, that these trucks will cover the North West, North East and the Midlands in an attempt to dramatically reduce the number of today’s youth that may end up in prison.
